PHOTO OF THE DAY – BACHES OF RANGITOTO ISLAND Nestled in the Hauraki Gulf is a bygone era of small holiday baches on Rangitoto Island. These tiny abodes have been on the island for years. There used to be 37 historic baches on the island. The original bach was built in 1911. Some of the baches have now been renovated and can be stayed in. Imagine staying on a dormant volcano that is just 35 minutes from Auckland. You’ll have the whole island to yourself, except for the wildlife. The views from the top of the island are worth seeing too. Trek to the top and you can see the whole city and harbour. Settings: P.S.
