Helen Oakes Photographer PHOTO OF THE DAY – LOCH ARD GORGE

[12TH FEBRUARY 2020]

The majestic beauty of this area is second to none, high cliffs, trails and rock formations will draw you in and keep your shutter clicking.

Port Campbell in Victoria, Australia is home to some amazing landscapes. You can’t go past the blowholes, offshore stacks and formations including the Razorback and Island Arch that line the foreshore. This incredible area has much history behind it, including the shipwrecks. An area I had always dreamt of visiting became a reality and one that I would recommend to travellers and landscape revellers alike. Loch Ard Gorge hosts a beautiful beach, shown in the photograph, it is also named after a 1878 shipwreck where there were only 2 survivors out of fifty-four people on board the ship.

You will find Loch Ard Gorge off the Great Ocean road, Port Campbell. The Port Campbell township is 8km away. There are other walks to explore in this area which is not too far from the famous 12 Apostles.
